We often attend talks and conversations where accomplished people are invited to share their journeys.
And something interesting happens when the questions begin.
What did you do? How did you navigate that? How did you know when to move? What worked for you?
People may not realise it, but somewhere in those questions is often a search for a formula.
This worked for you. Maybe it can work for me.
And it makes perfect sense.
There is enormous value in learning from people who have successfully navigated roads we are trying to travel.
They can tell us what they did. Why they did it. What they learned.
But they cannot give us the answer for our own situation.
Because their answer came through them.
Through who they are. How they are wired. What they value. What they believe. Their experiences. Their strengths. Their circumstances. Their own inner leading.
Put ten successful people on a stage and ask them the same question, and you may get ten different answers.
One stayed. One left.
One waited. One moved.
One spoke. One remained silent.
And they may all have been right.
Because the wisdom wasn’t simply in what they did.
It was in the alignment between the action and the person taking it.
That is why one of the most important things we can do is get to know ourselves.
How am I wired? What makes me tick? What matters deeply to me? What feels true for me?
Knowing yourself means becoming quiet enough to recognise the voice within — the knowing that sees beyond what the physical you can see.

That inner leading.
Your inner leading doesn’t always explain itself. Sometimes you know before you understand why you know.
Sometimes it’s just nudge.
Go. Stay. Call. Wait. Say yes. Not this.
So listen to the speakers. Read the books. Ask the questions. Learn from people who have walked roads you haven’t walked yet.
But don’t mistake their answer for your instruction.
And don’t hand another human being a responsibility that was never theirs.
Nobody else knows the particular combination of who you are, what you carry, what you believe, where you are going and what you are being led towards.
Get to know yourself.
Get quiet.
Listen.
Learn the sound of your own inner leading.
The formula you’re looking for was never theirs to give you.
It’s all within. 🌺
